When paying a fine or other penalty, always use the reference number found on the bank transfer or fine form. If you do not include the reference number or it is wrong, the payment will not be allocated correctly.
You can pay the fine or other penalty to the Legal Register Centre’s (LRC) account. If you do not have a bank account, you can pay the fine or penalty to the Enforcement Authority.
You will need the reference number to make the payment. If you do not use the reference number given or it is wrong, the payment will not be allocated correctly. Be careful!
You can check the payment details from the bank transfer or fine form issued to you by the authority that imposed the fine or other penalty. If you have been sent a reminder for payment by the LRC, you can find the payment details in the reminder as well.
Payment details lost?
You can also check the reference number from the LRC’s electronic service. Or you can pay your penalty conveniently with the virtual bar code in the electronic service.

Frequently asked questions about payment
If you notice that you have made a payment with incomplete or incorrect information, contact our customer service to clear the matter up.
The transfer of information to our debt-collection system and e-services may take from a few days to a few months, depending on the matter.
Please note that the fees for negligence of notifications to the Trade Register and for late submission of financial statements imposed by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) do not appear in the LRC’s e-service. You can ask for more information about the sanctions imposed by the PRH from the LRC’s customer service for enforcement matters.
You can pay a fine or other sanction in instalments before a reminder for payment sent by the LRC falls due. An exception is a conversion sentence, which can be paid in instalments only if you have a valid payment arrangement decision.
If you fail to make the payment by the due date, the matter will be transferred to Enforcement Authority. The matter will then be managed by the enforcement authorities, and you will no longer be able to apply for payment time from the LRC. So be prompt!
If you have paid the traffic penalty fee and filed a claim for a revised decision with the police after that, the fee’s enforcement code or reference number may have changed due to the revised decision.
If you have paid the fee with the original details, the payment will not be automatically allocated to the revised traffic penalty fee decision.
You can apply for more time for paying fines and other penalties when the matter is listed in the electronic service or the LRC has sent you a reminder for payment. Payment time will only be granted for a justified reason.
We will return any excess amount paid to the payer with possible interest. Read more about payment refunds.
It takes 1–3 banking days for payments to be registered in our system. The reminder for payment may have been sent out in the meantime. You can check your up-to-date balance in our electronic service.
